Motel One commissioned several paintings depicting the French Quarter from Cyril Margaux for its branch in Haidhausen. This was accompanied by a film portrait of the artist and the ideas behind his works, which adorn the hotel’s breakfast room.
Cyril Mariaux discovered his passion for art and painting at a young age. After successfully completing his studies at a graphics school in Paris, Cyril turned his hobby into a career and worked for nine years as an illustrator in the city of love.
Born in Toulon in 1971, the artist moved to Munich in 2005, where he has since worked as a freelance illustrator for renowned companies such as Käfer, Nymphenburger Porzellan and Sévigné. He likes to combine paper cutouts and drawings to create colourful collages.
